Arijore

Hi: 26°F
Low: 21°F
Conditions: Winter Weather Advisory in Effect. Total accumulation: 7-9
inches.

After almost three weeks of drought, we're back in the snow game today.

Ari and I decided to celebrate with a skijore on our neighbor's trail. The adventure began, as most good ones do, with a ceremonial roll: this time, around the tips of my skis.

That was soon followed by a considerably less ceremonial (but no less frequent) human crash, as we attempted to avoid the backyard fire pit and lawn furniture (who leaves lawn furniture out in January? Oh, yeah. Never mind.)

It was well after we recovered and had embarked upon the actual ski trails that I realized my camera had fallen out of my coat pocket. So you'll have to trust me when I tell you it was incredibly fast and very beautiful conditions. And you'll also have to trust me when I tell you that the caninaturalist was a champ on the trails--galloping her way through snow and stopping only a respectable number of times to smell things.

We made it back to the firepit and were delighted to find a partially frozen camera waiting for us (though my pride seems to have wandered away for good). To help me make sure the former still works (we've long since given up on the latter), Ari agreed to pose for a skijoring picture in the backyard to show off her form.

And another to remind me that a canine naturalist always has her priorities (read: squirrels) in order, regardless the whims and desires of her human:

I'm coming to live with you. Seriously. I've been hearing about skijoring for over a year and yet someone (MOM) has yet to even take her first crosscountry skiing lesson.

Oh, ARI! I love that second to the last picture of you! You have the nicest weather .... sigh. It's horrible here. It's going to be in the 50s and Dad is off to play golf. Fortunately, we're supposed to have a cold front come through tonight. Yea!
Love,
Ammy
PS: Please enjoy the snow for all of us!!!

We can just imagine the video version of you crashing through lawn furniture, trees and snow drifts in pursuit of a squirrel, behind your wonderful Ari ... toooooo amusing. You are very brave!

You see, when snow melts you have water...lots and lots of water. Put that with the water coming from the sky and you have TOO much water. You need skis...I need floaties. :)How else am I going to keep the Peanuts dry, I ask you?

Does Ari not respect the panic mode her owner went into when said camera disappeared? Glad you found it! Ari should be too, for who who be her chronical-er if not for you?

Um, yeah. Patio furniture left outside...we know about this. Ours wound up with almost 3' of snow on it (as well as the rest of our deck) - of course then it all needed shoveling off (for fear of the deck collapsing). But I didn't fall down or over anything, not that time anyway - so my pride is currently still in tact. For now. My ankle - and self-esteem - are still mending from falling in that pothole a few weeks ago. :-)
Glad you guys got out in the snow - Ari's beautiful as always.

Good evening Ari.
It has become cold also in Japan.
The snow waits there.
It is a harness of the back of Ari, and a stroll ..skiing...
It is cold in the stroll for a moment.
However, please enjoy the weekend in wonderful scenery of the snow. :D

I'm glad you got some snow. We've had tons of it. But now it's just plain cold. -21 yesterday and again this morning. However, a heatwave is coming. We'll actually get above 0 this afternoon.

Hugs, Kodak
