Target Audience

High: 50° F
Low: 45° F
Conditions: Showers throughout the day.

It’s deer hunting season here in Maine. We’re not opposed to hunters per se: to the contrary, we’d just as soon see omnivores get their meat this way as any other. Still, the season does put a kind of damper on our lifestyle around here. With hundreds of armed humans in the woods around our house, we’re limited to walks in broad daylight on major thoroughfares. That’s okay as far as taking care of toiletry business is concerned, but it’s small consolation for an energetic canine naturalist in need of an occupation.

Luckily, Ari has a list of home projects she’s been working on lately. We thought we’d share some of them with you.
.
.
Project #1: Monitor For Intruders
.
.
Project #2: Organize Bone Inventory
.
.
Project #3: Sort Basement Recycling Bins
.
.
Project #4: Relocate Canned Goods
.
.
Project #5: Launch Demonic Exercise Program

.

Project #6: When Feline Housemates Refuse to Sign up For Program, Initiate Cat Diet Regiment by Eating an Entire Bag of Catfood. (note to self: be prepared for housemate backlash)

.

Project #7: Make Kindling for Woodstove
.

Project #8: Break in Couch (extra bonus: occupying the one piece of furniture in the ENTIRE house you are forbidden to occupy)
So, as you can tell, we've been pretty busy around here. At least one of us will be very relieved when hunting season ends. In the meantime, spare a thought for our poor house.

Hey, Ari ... if you need any help at all with that "Demonic Exercise Program", give me a call. I'm your man. Unless I'm snoozing.

My brother lives in rural Wisconsin - he has bright orange vests for his Wiemeraners. They look a little too much like deer!

June: Wow Ari, you have been very busy!

Samantha here: I like to make kindling too Ari! I think sometimes the logs that mom and dad had are way too big, so I help them break the logs into chips.

Dear Ari,
Obviously you need to take up Search and Rescue. I can verify that it is a very rewarding endeavor. It really gives you something to focus on.

How much more can you get into this winter? The household is going to be in shambles--but I think you want it that way.

Whoa Ari, I hope you're not tiring yourself out there. I think snoozing on the couch is a very good plan - you can consider what your next project might be.

You must have special priviledges like me though because my brother can not go on the sofa....only I can!

Your cartoon rocks. :)

Ari- maybe during hunting season you should take a trip down here to Portland. We still have places you can go that are hunting free and there are a lot of beaches. :)

B. Your kitty looks so much like Jenny . . . maybe they are long lost siblings!

Ari- a funny thing to do when you are stuck inside is to chase Kate around and bark "Tuna, t-t-t-tuna" over and over. It is really quite a hoot, just ask her. Get off the couch. PS, if you want to buy a snake let me know, apparently I know this guy who has a sweet deal. :)

Good evening Ari.
It is a season of hunting of the deer.
Deer's harm becomes frequent also in Japan because of Global warming.

The bud is eaten, and withers.
Then, it is a turn of the exercise program of the satan of Ari.
Nature consists of the balance of exquisiteness.

Looks like you're doing a great job! Maybe you should get your mom some hunter orange though. Then she could go for walks. Obviously you don't need walks.

Kathryn, I am so with you and Ari! When I lived in Maine I used to say that the winter was too cold to go out, the spring was too buggy, summer too humid, and just when it gets nice outside in Autumn the hunters come out and it's unsafe!
